Jason C. Collins Charged with Aggravated DUI
Pontiac, IL – The Livingston County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges today in the death investigation of Pontiac Police Officer Casey Kohlmeier and his K-9 partner “Draco”. Officer Kohlmeier was killed in the line of duty when he was struck by a pick-up truck on I-55 at milepost 201 in Pontiac, Illinois, on October 30, 2013.
Jason C. Collins, 33, of West Columbia, South Carolina, was formally charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence by Livingston County States Attorney’s office on October 31, 2013.
The charges allege that Collins operated a pick up truck on northbound Interstate 55 at Mile 201 when he left the roadway and struck Officer Kohlmeier’s Department SUV in the center cross over.
Jason C. Collins was taken into custody when he was discharged from an area hospital by Illinois State Police Zone 5 Investigators the evening of October 31, 2013.
Mr. Collins has waived extradition and was transported to Livingston County Jail for arraignment on his pending felony charges.
