Illinois State Police District 14 Macomb Welcomes New K-9 Drax

Macomb – Illinois State Police District 14 is pleased to welcome its newest addition, K-9 Drax, to patrol.  Drax is a 1 ½ year old Belgian Malinois full service K-9 who is assigned to work with his handler and partner Trooper Justin Royer.

Trooper Royer and Drax recently completed ten weeks of rigorous K-9 certification training at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield.  This training included narcotics detection, bite apprehension, article searches and tracking.  Upon completion of the training program, Trooper Royer and Drax were certified as a full service K-9 unit assigned to District 14. 

The K-9 team is assigned to patrol and work in the geographic areas of Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, McDonough and Warren Counties.
