ISP Troopers, Local Police Agencies & OSF St. Anthony Medical Staff Prepare For Worst Case Scenario
(SPRINGFIELD, IL) – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 16 participated in an Active Shooter Safety Drill at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. ISP Troopers partnered with Saint Anthony Hospital staff, the Rockford Police Department, and the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office to respond to a realistic active shooter scenario.
The drill was designed to test hospital staff responses and policies in the event of an unexpected crisis or emergency. The drill provided valuable information and served to heighten safety and security responses on the Level 1 trauma center's campus.
“Safety is a priority mission of the Illinois State Police and communities are safer when the public is informed and prepared,” said ISP Lt. Todd Rohlwing. “These types of collaborative safety initiatives underscore the Department's emergency response priorities and tests our unified command responses to crisis situations,” he added.
The drill is part of a hospital's accreditation process where hospitals must have incident response plans in place and periodically test those plans.
