East Moline, IL – Illinois State Police District Seven announced their Safety Education Officer was able to bring home a First Place Trophy from the National Uniformed Safety Education Officer Workshop held in Nashville, TN June 24-29 this year.
State Troopers throughout the nation get together annually to share ideas and programs to take back to their respective states though an organization called the Uniformed Safety Education Officers Workshop (USEOW). This sharing of material also doubles as a competition that the participating states’ representatives judge by four topics: traffic safety, public safety, radio and televised public service announcements. This year the states in attendance were: Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, New Mexico, Texas and Wyoming.
Georgia State patrol won the first place award for traffic safety for Child Passenger Safety. Trooper Jason Wilson, Illinois State Police District 7 won first place for the public safety presentation on A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lock down, Inform, Counter, Evacuate)
“It is an honor to be chosen by my peers to receive first place, but it is more rewarding to have the opportunity to get together with other officers throughout the nation and share fresh new ideas with such dedicated and professional officers,” stated Trooper Wilson.
USEOW Participants: Trooper Jason Wilson, Trooper Tracy Lillard, Trooper Michelle Kistulinec, Trooper Dustin Pierce, Trooper Mike Kindhart and Trooper Christopher Watson (not pictured).
