Nine Month Joint Investigation Nets Three Arrests Schiller Park - Illinois State Police (ISP) and Schiller Park PD officials announced today the conclusion of a nine month joint investigation into a network of human sex traffickers. Home owner Keith Williams, 52, was taken into custody along with Roman Kurek, 49, and his cousin, Sylvia Topolewski, 37. The three offenders were arrested for multiple Class X Felony warrants during a predawn raid conducted by ISP SWAT and multiple law enforcement agencies. Williams, Kurek and Topolewski were charged with Involuntary Servitude and Trafficking in Persons, crimes which if convicted are punishable up to 30 years in prison. The investigation began as a probe into allegations of a possible house of drugs and prostitution and rapidly developed into greater charges. “This was a nine month investigation with collaboration from multiple law enforcement agencies and resources” said ISP Lieutenant Colonel Terry Lemming. “I am proud of the tireless efforts of our Zone 1 investigators for dismantling this network of crime that threatens innocent victims and destroys communities,” he added. Williams is held at Cook County Jail on $650,000 bond. Roman Kurek and Sylvia Topolewski are held on $350,000 bond each. The public is reminded that all arrested persons are merely accused of the charges against them and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. |
