Trooper Testing

Press Release Date: August 19, 2005    || Archived October 12, 2005
Applicants who successfully pass the Fitness Testing and participate in the Written Suitability Testing will remain in the Eligibility Pool for one year from the date of testing. These applicants may not test again while in the eligibility pool. Applicants who do not successfully pass the Fitness Testing may repeat the Fitness Testing AFTER completing and submitting another acceptable pre-employment application.

The Recruitment Section will be offering a pre-test August 27, 2005, at the ISP Academy in Springfield. This is NOT a mandatory test. The test will provide eligible applicants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the four-part fitness test, and the Merit Board will be available to provide candidates with information to help them prepare for the written suitability test. Check-in will begin at 9:00 a.m., with pre-testing scheduled to begin at approximately 10:00 a.m., and should be completed by 12:00 noon. In addition, Recruiters will be available to answer questions regarding the recruitment and selection process. The Recruitment Section will be sending letters of invitation to all perspective candidates inviting them to participate in the pre-test. Applicants who meet the criteria for the recruitment process, and who have submitted a Pre-Employment Application on or before the August 31 deadline, will be eligible for the September 29 Merit Board testing.

All eligible applicants will receive a letter from the Merit Board inviting them to the September 29 Merit Board testing at the Springfield Prairie Capital Convention Center. Applicants who are interested in a Trooper position MUST ATTEND AND PASS the ISP Merit Board Testing to continue in the selection process.

The next quarterly testing is scheduled in January 2006 in Chicago, and the next pre-test is scheduled for December 10, 2005, in Chicago. Please contact Trooper John Merrifield, Recruitment Section Manager, at 866/IL-TROOPER or 217/785-0183 or Trooper Isaiah Vega at 847/294-4494 if you have questions.
